Not always. Your starting dose will depend on your current Mounjaro dose and how long you have been using it. Our goal is to provide a personalised transition plan that maintains your momentum while ensuring your body adapts comfortably.

Why a lower starting dose is a protective measure, not a loss of progress.
Finding your transition dose
There is no exact "one-to-one" milligram match between Mounjaro and Wegovy because they contain different active ingredients. However, our clinicians follow established guidelines to find the safest equivalent for you.
If you are tolerating treatment well: If you have been on Mounjaro without significant side effects, your prescriber will typically start you on a Wegovy dose that provides a similar level of appetite control.
If you have experienced side effects: If you have had persistent nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea, we may recommend a "step down" to a lower Wegovy dose. This allows your system to reset and adjust more gradually to the new medication.
Why a lower dose is sometimes better
Starting at a slightly lower dose of Wegovy is often a clinically safe way to maximize your comfort. It is important to remember:
It’s not a step backwards: Using a lower dose to manage side effects helps you stay on the treatment longer, which is the key to sustainable results.
Clinical Safety: Reducing the risk of severe digestive upset during the first few weeks of a switch makes the transition much smoother.
Titration: Once your body has adjusted to the switch, you can continue to move up the Wegovy dose ladder as usual.
