What is Nevolat?
Nevolat is a daily injectable GLP-1 medication containing the active ingredient liraglutide, designed to support weight loss alongside healthy lifestyle changes.
How does Nevolat work?
Nevolat contains the active ingredient liraglutide. Liraglutide mimics GLP-1, a naturally occurring hormone in your gut. It supports weight loss by:
Reducing appetite -
It targets the hunger centre in your brain, quieting food-related thoughts.
Increasing fullness -
It slows digestion, helping you stay satisfied for longer between meals.
Regulating blood sugar -
It keeps blood sugar levels steady, reducing food cravings
How to take Nevolat?
Nevolat comes as a pre-filled injection pen that you use once a day, with or without food. It’s injected under the skin (subcutaneously), in the stomach, upper arm or front of thigh. We recommend regularly rotating your injection sites to avoid skin irritation.
It’s recommended that you use it around the same time each day — this will regulate the medication’s effectiveness. You’ll receive clear instructions with your first order and our clinical team is here to support you. Never take an extra dose, if you take more than your prescribed dose notify us straight away.
What happens if I miss a dose?
If you forget a dose and remember it within 12 hours from when you usually use the dose, inject it as soon as you remember. However, if more than 12 hours have passed since you should have used Nevolat, skip the missed dose and inject your next dose the following day at the usual time. Do not use a double dose or increase the dose on the following day to make up for the missed dose
Will we sell Nevolat as one pen, or packs of pens?
Sold in packs of 3 or 5 pre-filled pens
How long will one Nevolat pen last?
This will depend on whether a patient is actively titrating or on maintenance (3.0mg). A patient should inject daily, increasing the strength of the dose weekly until they reach the maintenance strength.
Week | Dose per day (mg) | Amount used daily (mL) |
1 | 0.6 | 0.1 |
2 | 1.2 | 0.2 |
3 | 1.8 | 0.3 |
4 | 2.4 | 0.4 |
5+ | 3.0 | 0.5 |
Each pen contains 18 mg total (3 mL at 6 mg/mL)
Dosage is once daily, starting at 0.6 mg and increasing weekly by 0.6 mg until reaching 3.0 mg (the maintenance dose)
Pens are sold in packs of 3 and 5, so at maintenance of 3.0mg, 3 pens = 18 days
5 pens = 30 days
Will we advise patients to dose split between two pens?
No, it’s off license to advise a patient to dose split, if a patient doesn't have enough liquid to take their full dose from their current pen, we will advise them to move onto a new pen.
How to prepare your Nevolat Injection Pen
Your pen is a pre-filled dial-a-dose pen. It contains 18 mg of liraglutide and delivers doses of 0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, 1.8 mg, 2.4 mg and 3.0 mg. Needles are not included in the pack. BD Ultra fine TM or NovoFine ® disposable needles are recommended for use with this device.
1. Prepare Your Pen with a New Needle
Remove the pen cap.
Attach a new needle:
Push the needle straight onto the pen.
Twist it on tightly.
Remove both needle caps:
Outer cap: Pull it off and keep it—you’ll need it after the injection.
Inner cap: Pull it off and throw it away. Do not try to put it back on—you could accidentally stick yourself.
⚠️ A drop of solution may appear at the needle tip. This is normal.
Do not attach a needle until you are ready to inject.
2. Check the Flow (Before First Use with Each New Pen or Needle)
Always use a new needle for each injection to prevent infection and blockage.
Turn the dose selector until the dose counter shows the flow check symbol (➤), just past 0.
Hold the pen with the needle pointing up.
Press and hold the dose button until the counter returns to 0, aligned with the dose pointer.
✅ A drop of solution should appear at the needle tip.
If no drop appears:
Repeat the flow check up to 6 times.
Still no drop? Change the needle and try again.
Still no drop after changing the needle? Dispose of the pen and use a new one.
⚠️ If you skip this step, you may not receive any medication, even if the dose counter moves.
3. Select Your Dose
Turn the dose selector until your prescribed dose appears in the dose counter (0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, 1.8 mg, 2.4 mg, or 3.0 mg).
If you turn past your dose, adjust forward or backward until the correct number is aligned with the dose pointer.
❌ Do not count clicks or rely on the pen scale. Only the dose counter and pointer show the correct dose.
Checking How Much Solution is Left
Turn the dose selector until it stops:
If it stops at 3.0, you have at least 3.0 mg left.
If it stops before 3.0, you don’t have enough for a full 3.0 mg dose.
Need More Than What’s Left in the Pen?
Only if trained by a healthcare professional, you may split your dose between two pens.
Use a calculator and follow medical guidance carefully.
Not sure? Use a new pen to inject the full dose.
4. Inject Your Dose
Insert the needle into your skin as shown by your doctor or nurse.
Make sure you can see the dose counter—do not cover it with your fingers.
During Injection:
Press and hold the dose button until the dose counter shows 0, aligned with the dose pointer.
You may hear or feel a click.
Keep the needle in your skin and count slowly to 6.
Removing it too soon may cause some solution to leak out.
Remove the needle from your skin.
Release the dose button.
💡 A drop of solution at the needle tip afterward is normal.
If 0 Doesn’t Appear:
You may have a blocked or damaged needle.
You have not received any medicine—even if the counter moved.
What to do:
Change the needle as in Step 5.
Start again from Step 1 using the full dose.
⚠️ Never touch the dose counter during injection. This may interrupt the process.
5. After Your Injection
Remove the needle safely:
Place the outer needle cap on a flat surface.
Lead the needle into the cap without touching it.
Once the needle is covered, push the cap on fully.
Unscrew the needle and dispose of it safely.
Recap the pen to protect it from light.
Always dispose of the needle after each use to prevent:
Blockages
Infections
Leakage
Inaccurate dosing
Do not try to replace the inner needle cap.
This could cause injury.
When the pen is empty, discard it without the needle as instructed by your healthcare provider.

Nevolat dosage guide
The starting dose of Nevolat is 0.6 mg per day for the first week. Your dose is increased slowly each week to help you adjust, until you reach your maintenance dose. This is the typical dosing schedule:
Week 1
0.6 mg
Week 2
1.2 mg
Week 3
1.8 mg
Week 4
2.4 mg
Weeks 5+
3.0 mg (maintenance dose)
Important to know: Once you’ve been on the full dose of Nevolat (3.0 mg daily) for 12 weeks, we will check in with your progress. If you haven’t lost around 5% of your starting weight by then, we may discuss whether continuing treatment is the best option for you.
Switching to Nevolat
Nevolat is a more cost-effective treatment for weight management than other GLP-1 medications. Additionally, some people may prefer the daily schedule of Nevolat because they feel it offers more consistent control over their treatment schedule.
If you are switching to Nevolat from another GLP-1 medication, such as Wegovy or Mounjaro, your starting dose will be tailored based on the closest equivalent to what you have been taking. There isn’t an exact match between Nevolat doses and other GLP-1 medications, but our clinicians will work with you to find the most appropriate starting dose to support comfort, safety, and continued progress.
How long do I have to wait until I can start my medication if I switch?
If you’re switching from Mounjaro or Wegovy to Nevolat, wait at least 1 week after your last injection before starting Nevolat.
If you’re switching from Nevolat to Mounjaro or Wegovy, you can start the new medication 1 day later - on the day you would normally take your next scheduled dose.
How effective is Nevolat?
In clinical trials, people with obesity who took daily liraglutide (3.0 mg) lost up to 10% of their body weight in 56 weeks.
How to store Nevolat?
Before opening, store your Nevolat in a refrigerator (2˚C - 8˚C). Do not freeze. Keep away from the freezer compartment.
After first use, you should store Nevolat either in a refrigerator between 2-8 °C, or at room temperature below 30 °C. Do not freeze Nevolat. Keep the cap on the Nevolat pen to protect it from light. You can keep the pen for 1 month when stored at a temperature below 30˚C or in a refrigerator (2˚C - 8˚C).
