Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction

The following symptoms could indicate that you are experiencing anaphylaxis after administering Mounjaro or Wegovy:

  • Respiratory distress: Difficulty breathing, wheezing, or severe shortness of breath.

  • Swelling: Visible swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat.

  • Swallowing issues: Significant difficulty swallowing or a feeling that the throat is closing.

  • Cardiovascular changes: A rapid or pounding heartbeat, often accompanied by feeling faint or dizzy.


When to seek urgent medical help

Call 999 or head to your nearest A&E right away if you notice any of the symptoms listed above after taking Mounjaro or Wegovy.

Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency and cannot be managed at home. When speaking with emergency medical staff, ensure you inform them that you have recently administered a dose of weight loss medication (Mounjaro or Wegovy).
