What is acute pancreatitis?

Acute pancreatitis can cause severe, persistent abdominal pain that often spreads to the back or underneath the right ribcage. Individuals developing acute pancreatitis typically feel very unwell and require urgent medical assessment.
Symptoms of acute pancreatitis
The following symptoms may indicate that you are experiencing acute pancreatitis while taking Mounjaro or Wegovy:
Severe and persistent stomach pain:
Pain typically rated as an 8 or higher on a scale of 1–10.
Pain that makes it difficult to focus or carry out daily activities (such as walking, getting dressed, or eating).
Pain that does not improve with rest or over-the-counter pain relief medication.
Radiating pain: Stomach pain that spreads to the back, under the right ribcage, or to the right shoulder.
Severe vomiting:
Vomiting three or more times in a single day.
Vomit that contains blood or looks like coffee grounds.
