Managing Different Types of Stomach Pain
The best way to manage stomach pain while taking Mounjaro® or Wegovy® depends on the specific sensation you're feeling.
Trapped Wind
Trapped wind usually feels like bloating or pressure in the stomach, often accompanied by burping or gas. To ease trapped wind:
Adjust your eating habits: Eat small, frequent meals and chew slowly with your mouth closed.
Stay active: Go for a light walk to help move gas through your system.
Soothe your stomach: Drink peppermint tea.
Stomach Cramps
Cramps often feel like sharp, intermittent pains that come in waves. To manage stomach cramps:
Watch your diet: Avoid spicy, rich, or greasy foods that can irritate the digestive tract.
Apply heat: Hold a heat pack or hot water bottle against your stomach.
Eat mindfully: Ensure you are chewing your food thoroughly.
Dull or Aching Pain
This usually feels like a constant, low-level ache in the upper or lower abdomen. To help manage a dull or aching stomach ache:
Portion control: Eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.
Promote movement: Go for a walk to stimulate bowel movements and digestion.
Over-the-counter relief: Consider using antacids if the ache is related to indigestion.
