Yes. Both Wegovy and Mounjaro are administered as once-weekly injections. While the frequency is identical, there are slight differences in how you should handle a missed dose if you forget to take your medication on your usual day.
Use this guide to understand:
How to manage your weekly routine.
The rules for handling missed doses for both medications.
When to skip a dose and wait for your next scheduled day.
Staying consistent
You can take your injection at any time of day, with or without food. However, it is important to stay consistent with your chosen day of the week to keep the level of medication in your system stable.
If you need to change your injection day, you can usually do so as long as the time between two doses is at least 3 days (72 hours).
Handling missed doses
If you forget to take your injection on your scheduled day, the window for "catching up" depends on which medication you are using:
Wegovy: You can take a missed dose up to 5 days after it was originally due.
Mounjaro: You can take a missed dose up to 4 days after it was originally due.
If more than the allowed time has passed (5 days for Wegovy or 4 days for Mounjaro), you should skip the missed dose entirely. Simply wait and take your next dose on your usual scheduled day. Never take two doses at once to make up for a missed one.
