What Are the Common Signs of a Wegovy® Pen Issue?
Your Wegovy® pen may need troubleshooting if:
The dose counter does not return to "0" after you continuously press the dose button.
A drop of solution does not appear during the flow check.
Medication is leaking onto your skin or around the injection site.
How Do I Troubleshoot a Blocked Wegovy® Pen?
If the dose counter on your Wegovy® pen does not return to "0," the needle may be blocked or damaged. Follow these steps:
Change the needle: Attach a new, sterile needle to your Wegovy® pen.
Set the flow check: Turn the dose selector to the flow check symbol (—).
Perform the check: Press and hold the dose button until the counter returns to "0."
Confirm flow: Check for a drop of solution at the needle tip.
What If My Wegovy® Pen Still Doesn't Work After Changing the Needle?
If changing the needle doesn't allow your Wegovy® pen to function properly, this can mean:
The pen mechanism may be faulty.
The pen may be empty — check whether the grey plunger has moved all the way to the top of the dose window.
The pen contains medication that is not clear and colourless, in which case it should be discarded.
How Can I Prevent Wegovy® Pen Problems?
Injection Technique
The "6-second rule": Hold your Wegovy® pen firmly against your skin for at least 6-7 seconds after the dose indicator reaches "0," to make sure the full dose is delivered.
Priming rules: Only perform a flow check before the first dose of a new Wegovy® pen. Priming before every dose will cause the pen to run out of medication before the 4th dose is reached.
Injection site: Try using a firmer injection site, such as the upper arm or thigh, to make inserting the needle easier.
Correct Needle Use
Always use a new, sterile needle for every injection.
Make sure the needle is attached correctly and pushed straight onto your Wegovy® pen.
Never store your Wegovy® pen with a needle attached, as this can lead to needle blockage, air entering the pen, or medication leakage.
Proper Wegovy® Pen Storage
Store unused Wegovy® pens in the refrigerator, between 2°C and 8°C.
After first use, keep the pen cap attached to protect the medicine from light.
Keep your Wegovy® pen away from dust, dirt, and liquids.
