Managing a gap in treatment for Foundayo

Overview

A gap in treatment is the length of time between your last Foundayo prescription date and the date you place a new order. When you resume or restart Foundayo, MedExpress always calculates this gap to ensure your next dose is safe and appropriate.

Because Foundayo is taken daily and leaves the body more quickly than other GLP-1 treatments, the rules for managing a treatment gap are different, and the dose adjustments required can happen sooner.

How does my treatment gap affect my next Foundayo dose?

The duration of your break from Foundayo determines the options available for your next order.

Gap of up to 2 days

You can continue at your current dose and proceed with any planned dose increase as normal.

Gap of 2 days to 1 week

You should maintain your current dose. A planned dose increase should be paused until you have been stable on your current dose again.

Gap of 1 to 2 weeks

Your next dose will be reduced by one step to allow your body to readjust to the medication safely.

Gap of 2 to 4 weeks
Your next dose will be reduced by two steps.

Gap of 4 to 8 weeks
Your next dose will be reduced by three steps.

Gap of more than 8 weeks
You will need to restart Foundayo from the lowest starting dose.

What else do I need to know?

  • Why Foundayo is different from injectables and other orals. Weekly injectable GLP-1 (and some oral) treatments stay in your body for several weeks after your last dose, which gives more flexibility when resuming treatment. Foundayo is a daily tablet that clears more quickly, so your body’s tolerance to the medication reduces faster during a break. This is why dose reductions after gaps happen at an earlier stage than they do with Mounjaro or Wegovy (injectable and oral).

  • Safety first. All dosing decisions are made with your safety as the highest priority. The guidance above assumes your last dose was well-tolerated. If you previously experienced significant side effects, a lower dose may be recommended regardless of the gap length.
