A gap in treatment is the length of time between your last Mounjaro® or Wegovy® prescription date and the date you place a new order. When you resume or restart Mounjaro® or Wegovy® treatment, MedExpress always calculates this gap to ensure your next dose is safe and appropriate for your current needs.

How Does My Treatment Gap Affect My Next Mounjaro® or Wegovy® Dose?
The duration of your break from Mounjaro® or Wegovy® determines the clinical options available for your next order.
Gap of Less Than 8 Weeks
If your break is shorter than 8 weeks, you typically have two options:
Stay on your previous dose: if your last dose worked well and side effects were manageable, you can continue at that same strength.
Move up to the next dose: if you tolerated your previous dose well and wish to continue your weight loss progress, you can move up following the standard Mounjaro® or Wegovy® titration schedule.
Gap of Between 8 and 12 Weeks
A clinical review will determine the safest path forward, which may include:
Continuing with your previous Mounjaro® or Wegovy® dose.
Stepping down to a lower dose to allow your body to readjust to the medication.
Gap of Between 12 Weeks and 6 Months
Because your body's sensitivity to Mounjaro® or Wegovy® changes over time, MedExpress's clinical team will decide whether you should:
Continue with your previous dose.
Step down to a lower dose.
Restart treatment from the initial starting dose.
Gap of More Than 6 Months
If it's been over 6 months since your last treatment with MedExpress, you must restart your Mounjaro® or Wegovy® journey at the lowest available dose, to minimise the risk of severe side effects.
What Else Do I Need to Know?
Safety first: all dosing decisions are made with your safety as the highest priority. The guidance above assumes your last dose was well-tolerated. If you previously experienced significant side effects, a lower dose may be recommended regardless of the gap length.
Clinical discretion: decisions regarding the appropriate dose are final. If MedExpress's clinical team determines a different dose is required for your safety, you'll have the following options:
Agree to have your order dose amended as directed.
Have your order cancelled and receive a full refund.
