How Should I Store an Unopened Wegovy® Pen?
Unused Wegovy® pens should be kept in the refrigerator to maintain their stability until the expiry date.
Temperature: store in the fridge between 2°C and 8°C.
Placement: avoid storing your Wegovy® pen in the fridge door, as the temperature fluctuates frequently when the door is opened.
Packaging: keep your MedExpress Wegovy® pen in its original, unopened packaging to protect it from light and to clearly see the expiry date.
Freezing: do not freeze Wegovy®. If a pen has been frozen, it must be discarded immediately.
Room temperature option: if necessary, an unopened Wegovy® pen can be stored out of the fridge for up to 6 weeks (42 days), provided the temperature does not exceed 30°C.
How Should I Store a Wegovy® Pen That's Currently in Use?
Once you've administered your first dose from a Wegovy® pen, you have more flexibility, but the 6-week clock begins.
Duration: a Wegovy® pen in use is safe for up to 6 weeks (42 days).
Location: you can keep it in the fridge or at room temperature (below 30°C).
Safety: store the pen away from direct heat and out of the sight and reach of children.
Protection: always replace the pen cap after each use to protect the medication from light.
What Should I Do in Common Wegovy® Storage Scenarios?
If you're unsure whether your Wegovy® pen is still safe to use, follow this guidance:
Left out of the fridge overnight: as long as the room stayed below 30°C, the pen is safe to use for up to 6 weeks.
Pen has frozen: do not use it — freezing damages the medication. It must be thrown away safely in your sharps bin.
Room temperature exceeded 30°C: if the medication has been exposed to temperatures above 30°C (for example, during a heatwave or in a hot car), it must be discarded, even if it looks clear.
Past the expiry date: do not use any Wegovy® pen that has passed its expiry date, regardless of how it was stored.
