Use this article to understand how to create an account, place an order, and manage repeat or "step-up" doses for treatment, including what documentation you'll need, how the order review process works, and the typical timeframes at each stage.
This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough for new and returning patients on how to set up an account, place an order, and manage repeat or "step-up" doses for treatment.
Placing an order with MedExpress requires the following steps to be completed:
Create a new account, or log in if you already have one.
Complete the online consultation and provide payment.
Provide any documentation needed.
Please see below for a more detailed description of each of the above steps, along with typical order timeframes.
Creating a New Account
If you are a new patient, you must create a secure MedExpress account:
Visit the website: Go to https://www.medexpress.co.uk.
Register: Click "Login/Register" and select the option to create a new account.
Provide basic details: Enter your name, date of birth, and a valid email address.
Complete the Online Consultation
What you will need
Before you begin your MedExpress consultation, ensure you have the following ready to avoid delays:
Photo ID: A valid passport or driving licence, required for all GLP-1 orders.
Accurate measurements: Your current height and weight.
Weight Verification (WV): Current photos to verify your BMI, required for all GLP-1 orders. If you are unable to provide weight verification via photos — for example, due to a disability that prevents you from standing, or for religious reasons — please contact our Customer Care team, who can discuss arranging a Video Consultation (AVC) as an alternative. See the "Video Consultation (AVC)" section below for more detail.
Previous Use Evidence (PUE): Required if you are new to MedExpress and ordering a GLP-1 dose higher than the starting dose.
Payment method: A valid debit or credit card.
Step 1: Select Your Treatment
Browse our range of UK-licensed medications.
Note: Bundled options are currently exclusive to Mounjaro® and are not currently available for Wegovy®.
Returning patients: If you have used a GLP-1 injection within the last 6 months, you can request a repeat prescription or a "step-up" (higher) dose, subject to clinical approval.
Step 2: Complete the Eligibility Consultation
Consultation: You will answer clinical questions regarding your health and the medications you are currently taking. Your eligibility is determined by this data, your Summary Care Record (SCR), and other relevant medical history.
Clinical review: You cannot see your previous consultation answers once submitted, but our support agents can assist if you have questions.
Step 3: Payment and Checkout
Important: Payment is taken before you are prompted to upload your documents. Once payment is processed, your order is placed on hold until your evidence is verified.
Automatic cancellation: Orders are cancelled and refunded if the required details aren't provided within 14 days for GLP-1 medications, or 7 days for non-GLP-1 medications.
Finality: Once an order is cancelled, it cannot be reinstated or overridden.
Uploading Your Required Documents
All GLP-1 orders (Wegovy® and Mounjaro®) require Photo ID and Weight Verification (WV).
For Weight Verification (WV): http://medexpress.co.uk/confirm-details/full-length?reupload=front-view
For Previous Use Evidence (PUE): https://www.medexpress.co.uk/glp1-evidence
Alternatives:
Email: You can respond to any email sent by the MedExpress team with your documents attached, and we will upload them for you. Please be aware that we aim to respond to emails within 1–2 working days.
Live chat: You can also send any documents via our live chat.
Please note that some of our other medications (non-GLP-1) also require photo ID.
The Order Journey & Typical Timeframes
Once your MedExpress order is submitted, it follows these stages. While we aim for speed, safety and clinical accuracy are our priorities.
Stage 1: Pending Evidence
Your order remains on hold until you upload your ID, Weight Verification, or Previous Use Evidence.
Stage 2: Clinical Review (1–4 Working Days)
A registered clinician reviews your consultation and medical evidence to ensure the treatment is safe for you.
Stage 3: Action Needed (If Applicable)
If a clinician needs more information, or if a Video Consultation (AVC) is required — including as an alternative to standard Weight Verification photos, as described above — you will receive an email. The timeline here depends on how quickly you can respond.
Stage 4: Pharmacy Preparation
Once approved, your prescription is sent to our pharmacy team to be dispensed.
Stage 5: Dispatch
Your order is packaged and collected by the courier. GLP-1 medications, such as Mounjaro® and Wegovy®, are packaged in specialised temperature-controlled materials; non-injectable medications are sent in standard secure packaging.
Stage 6: Delivery (1–3 Working Days)
The courier delivers your tracked package directly to your door. Please note that while we aim for rapid delivery, next-day service is not available for all orders or locations.
Video Consultation (AVC)
Not all MedExpress orders require a Video Consultation (AVC). If one is needed, you will be notified via email, and it must be completed before your order can be approved.
An AVC may also be arranged as an alternative to providing standard Weight Verification photos, in circumstances where a customer is unable to provide these — for example, due to a disability that prevents them from standing, or for religious reasons. If this applies to you, please contact our Customer Care team to discuss arranging an AVC in place of Weight Verification photos.
