Are Melted Ice Packs a Problem?
While the ice packs may have thawed during transit, this does not necessarily mean the medication has been exposed to temperatures outside its required range. MedExpress's cold chain packaging has been tested to maintain the required temperature conditions throughout the expected shipping duration under defined shipping conditions. It is normal for ice packs to arrive partially or fully melted, as they absorb heat to protect the medication.
What Happens If My GLP-1 Delivery Arrives Within 24 Hours of Dispatch?
If the GLP-1 order:
Arrives within 24 hours of dispatch, and
Is placed in a refrigerator immediately on arrival,
the medication remains safe to use until the expiry date printed on the pen.
What Happens If My GLP-1 Delivery Arrives After 24 Hours?
Safety depends on the specific GLP-1 medication and temperature exposure.
Mounjaro® After 24 Hours
Mounjaro® remains safe to use for up to 30 days from the dispatch date if the pen has been kept below 30°C.
Wegovy® After 24 Hours
Wegovy® remains safe to use for up to 6 weeks from the dispatch date if the pen has been kept below 30°C.
How Do I Check the Dispatch Time for My Order?
The courier tracking record (for example, Royal Mail tracking) shows when the parcel was handed to the courier. This handover time usually marks the start of the 24-hour transit window.
When Might a GLP-1 Pen Not Be Safe to Use?
A GLP-1 pen may be unsuitable for use if:
Delivery occurred more than 24 hours after dispatch and the pen was exposed to temperatures above 30°C, or
The liquid inside the pen appears cloudy, frozen, or discoloured.
